How All Natural Pet Supply got started
Robert & Mary Lactaoen have always loved and been owned by animals, but it wasn’t until they found Tasha, a frisky red Chow, that their life changed.
In September 2000, leaving behind long-time careers in the legal field and sales, they opened the first self-serve dog wash in Vancouver and brought in a couple of natural supplies for their customers. Tasha had special grooming needs and was plagued by numerous allergies. Robb & Mary quickly discovered that feeding Tasha a natural food made a significant difference in her energy level and in the way her skin and coat looked and felt. Gone were the smelly ears and splotchy coat! It was too exciting not to share, and Robb & Mary expanded the retail, bringing in a variety of natural foods and supplies.
As time passed, Robb & Mary were struck by how customers who had first come in complaining of their dogs’ allergies, dry skin, and poor health were improving on simple diet changes. Nutrition became their main focus and pet supplies became a fast growing part of their dog wash business. More space was needed and on February 9, 2004, All Natural Pet Supply was born.
Tasha passed away in March of 2003 (Robb & Mary are now owned by Satin, their golden retriever and Shadow, their 16 year old kitty), and the dog wash was sold in 2004, but their passion for animal nutrition has only intensified.
